Audition Tip for TV Shows and Commercials

I’m going to be creating a series of blog videos, where I’m going to be sharing information with you about an audition I had, rehearsals, the booking, and the shooting of an NBC TV Series that I got.

So this first…the first video that I’m putting together is you never know what could happen and basically, here’s what took place. I got a phone call from my agent about auditioning for a TV commercial.

So I made about a two-and-a-half hour drive. Go to the TV commercial audition and when I finished, the casting director said to me – Hey, look, while you’re here, I’m going to be casting for a television show that’s going to be shooting in the area, so would you read for it? – I said, “Great!” So basically, it was all improvisation.

I had a general idea of what was going on, tried out a couple things, we tried it a couple of different ways.

It was pretty fast and as it turns out, I didn’t book the TV commercial and I never heard anything from that TV show.

So, I just figured I didn’t get it. And last week, all of a sudden, I got a phone call from the agent saying – hey, they want to book you for the TV show for the part you auditioned for, which is really cool! So I guess, the point is you’ll never know what can happen.

What I can tell you is that when you do go out, and you do audition, and you try to make things happen, then there’s always a possibility that things can happen. And it would have been very easy to turn the audition down, thinking – No, I really don’t want to spend five hours in the car. I really don’t want to go to this TV commercial. It’s just too far away. They’re seeing tons of people. Well, you know, the fact is I booked a television series and that was pretty cool.
